Update in the Great Retina Saga of 2021:
Having a hella California Friday night: went to @joya_yoga, and now I'm making kale chips with a mountain of kale from my garden, while drinking a small batch cider made locally (@farwestcider) from @livermoredowntownfarmersmarket. πŸ™„πŸ˜‚πŸ§˜πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
In the brief time period in which I pretended to be an entomologist, circa 2012-2017, I would get so tired of hearing about honey bee conservation. I get it, dudes, valued agricultural service, providing billions of dollars of work for farmers annually. But there are *millions* of insects who provide very important "services" for humans: decomposition, nutrient cycling, aeration of soil, and (most importantly, because I studied it!), pest management... And, the economic focus would drive me nuts, as if the only value of a creature comes from its relative capacity to support humans.
Waffles and I are celebrating National Ag Day by cruising our hills. I'm giving mental thanks to farmers and ranchers and appreciating our wildflowers, he's chasing birds and appreciating the open space. πŸ’šβœŒπŸΌοΈπŸ˜‚
So happy I have yoga as an excuse to go to town again. I totally messed up the time of my class this morning, which just gave me a chance to get a beet root latte and have random conversations at @thesteamhousecoffee. Really looking forward to more human interaction soon.
"Happy birthday Grampa, did you have a good day?"
Cold mornings, with lots of sun later. February is 100% my jam.
Tuna season. πŸ’šπŸ˜πŸ
Morning walks are pretty legit. πŸΆπŸπŸ’™πŸŒˆ
